What should I wear?
Please bring or wear loose,compfortable clothing, preferably cotton eg sweatshirt, t-shirt tracksuit trousers and cotton socks.
Are there any recommendations that I should follow before or after the treatment?
Please do not eat heavily in the two hours prior to treatment. Avoid alcohol, caffeine and drugs before or after the treatment. Check for advice. Drink plenty of water to help smooth the flow of changes through the system. If at all possible avoid strenuous or stressful activities after your shiatsu treatment.
What should I expect in a shiatsu treatment?
Becuase of the basic responsiveness of shiatsu to the reciever's energy, each treatment is unique in being able to meet immediate needs. It can be very gentle, or stronger, can focus on specific problem areas or be more general in nature.
How long is a treatment?
The first consultation lasts one hour thirty minutes, to incorporate taking a medical history for oriental diagnosis. After that, subsequent treatments last approximately one hour to one hour fifteen minutes. Shorter " taster " treatments are also available, when you can come and have a chat and try out a mini-shiatsu treatment before committing yourself to a courses of treatments.
How many treatments should I have?
It varies. If you have never had any shiatsu or bodywork before, it is a good idea to have a course of treatments, so that progress can be made. A single shiatsu treatment will be beneficial in its own right, but it may take more than one treament to gain the maximum benefit. Many clients star with a course of five to six treatments fairly close together- weekly or fortnightly, then depending on progress made reduce the frequency of treatments to once a month or every six weeks or so. it is recommended to have some shiatsu when going through any major life change or stress, or even when the seasons change!
